HEADLINE: GT Advisory & Consulting Senior Manager Christine Stead Achieves Registered Liquidator Status

Gold Coast, Queensland – Independently owned insolvency and restructuring practice GT Advisory & Consulting today announced that Senior Manager Christine Stead has officially become a Registered Liquidator in Australia.

The credential positions Ms Stead within a small cohort of corporate recovery specialists nationwide and marks a significant milestone for female representation in a historically male-dominated industry sector.

According to the latest industry data, women account for just 10 per cent of registered liquidators and 16 per cent of registered trustees across Australia.

Achieving registration requires meeting rigorous assessment criteria overseen by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), including qualifications, experience and demonstrated capability.

Based out of GT Advisory’s Bundall office, Ms Stead brings nearly two decades of experience spanning corporate accounting, complex voluntary administrations, receiverships, and personal liquidations.

GT Advisory & Consulting Founder and Managing Director, Glenn O’Kearney, said Ms Stead’s accreditation reflects the high-calibre technical capability the boutique firm continues to inject into the South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales business communities.

“We are incredibly proud of Christine’s achievement, which is a testament to her dedication, leadership, and deep reputation in the market,” said Mr O’Kearney.

“When I founded GT Advisory, our goal was to deliver top-tier corporate restructuring quality but with the deeply personalised, plain-English touch that only a boutique firm can provide. Christine embodies those values, whether she is stepping into a high-pressure corporate crisis to steady the ship for anxious employees or advising clients through cash-flow pressure, her focus remains exactly where it should be – on the human side of business recovery.”

Ms Stead’s career includes managing the complex operational and human aspects of major administrations, including a landmark corporate engagement involving more than 800 employees.

She hopes her milestone will encourage more female practitioners to pursue the upper echelons of the insolvency sector.

“Insolvency and restructuring is a highly dynamic and rewarding profession where you get to solve complex problems and support individuals through some of their most challenging financial periods,” Ms Stead said.

“Early in my career, I was insulated from the industry’s gender disparities, but as you step into more senior forums, the imbalance becomes starkly obvious. My advice to the next generation of women entering this field is to trust your instincts, build genuine, authentic professional networks, and align yourself with mentors, both male and female, who actively champion your growth.”

This professional certification comes at a time of sustained, rising demand for specialised restructuring services across the region, driven by macroeconomic pressures affecting hospitality, retail, and construction supply chains.

GT Advisory is currently seeing an increase in businesses seeking help only after warning signs – such as mounting ATO debt or extended creditor terms – have become critical.
